As graduation rites and election 2010 draw near, incumbent and aspiring politicians in the local and national level are expected to roam around just to grab the opportunity to talk about their “political propaganda” and it’s possible that they may be your children’s guest speakers during their recognition and graduation rites this coming months of March or April.
Sorry guys but let me call these politicians - narrow minded “trapos” short in looking for other more effective political gimmickry in advancing their political interest.
In fact, some of them last year, if you still remember, they don’t want to appear in such occasions because they thought then that it was a waste of time and money.
But now, they are expected to take advantage of these solemn occasions where they know, the have a sure captured audience.
If Aling Iska is right, the Department of Education has issued Department Order No. 15 that says Graduation rites should be conducted in an appropriate solemn ceremony befitting the graduating students and their parents and shall not in any way be used as a venue for any political forum.
May I remind the private and public school heads to follow the DepEd Order and don’t even think or plan to defy the order for the sake of the students and the integrity of the school. Don’t let your recognition and graduation rites be used as political venues and forum for those who are aspiring for a political position in May polls. Don’t invite politicians as guest speakers and speak of their propaganda that would politicize the minds of the youth.
Puwede namang naroon sila, bakit hindi? The Deped order says “In the event politicians are present during graduation programs, we ask that they focus on the occasion and not discuss politics with young children.
Aling Iska, are you against elected local officials be invited in school activities? No. These local officials are school partners in providing quality education.
What I am saying is that school heads should be choosy about their graduation speakers. They should be curious if the guest speaker they chose has the guts in sharing inspiring messages not political tantrums that may pollute the minds of the young.
Lubayan niyo muna sila. It’s not the right time for the youth to know that you are a “trapo”.
